Job Opportunities Bank [JOB]
?Community Based Organizations (CBOs) exist in almost every community that provide job-matching services for companies that need highly experienced workers without the need of filtering through a sea of resumes. Job Opportunities Bank (JOB) will be the solution for CBOs such as these. . Unlike other mass job-matching applications, this application gives CBOs the ability to track, identify, assist, and manage their clients.

Server Operating System
?For JOB’s operating system, it should be one that is able to run both the database, as well as the web-server used to run the software. At the same time, it must be relatively inexpensive to set up if a CBO does not have the resources to run such an application. As such, we list the popular operating systems and why it should be compatible with JOB.
Windows XP SP2
?span style='font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"'> Being able to run JOB on such a system would allow a CBO to use economies of scale and purchase hardware when their computers cannot handle the workload.
Windows Vista SP2
?span style='font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"'> If JOB is able to run on Vista, it would further increase the user-base that CBOs are able to install the application on. Furthermore, with the various security measures in place, Vista would be a secure platform to run JOB on.
Windows Server 2003/2008
?span style='font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"'> JOB should be able to run off a Windows Server operating system. This would allow JOB to integrate itself with SQL Server, which is a component required to run JOB.
Client Operating System
?JOB should be accessible to a wide range of computers. It should not be dependent on the client to run except for scripts and security measures that require it to run. Therefore, any browser enable hardware should be able to access JOB.
Database
?JOB should be extremely fast. The database should be scalable and efficient while at the same time having a footprint that is manageable. JOB must also be able to concurrently support a multitude of clients.
Microsoft SQL Server
?span style='font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"'> Microsoft SQL Server the best scalability in a work environment as well has being extremely intuitive on management.
Programming language
?The programming language has to be both secure, fast, as well as wide support in the programming industry.
Java
?span style='font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"'> It offers a wide range of support and runs on almost any hardware. A easy to learn language, with support of various technologies such as JSP, Servlets, and Applets make it an appealing choice.
ASP.Net
?span style='font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"'> Not only would this be supportive natively with an installation of Windows Server 2008, but it would make the entire software application be self contained in a package. The most convenient choice.
Reporting
?JOB’s reports must be visually appealing, as well as convenient for a job counselor, job seeker, or case manager to run.
?span style='font:7.0pt "Times New Roman"'> Microsoft Access 2007 from the Microsoft Office 2007 suite is a prime choice because it can create visually appealing reports as well as connect to outside databases. Since many CBOs use Microsoft Office as their workflow suite, making reports easy as clicking a file and loading the reports would appeal greatly to many CBOs.
Mystic Co has been mostly a collaboration between a few people trying to get a scalable and easily accessible service to the web. With the current climate, it was only fitting that we attempt to create a software packages that help assist organizations do their work by streamlining that work; at least on a database standpoint. With the emergence of web-based applications, Mystic Co is poised to introduce CBOs who are not in the position to develop software solutions become acquainted to and familiar to the new web technologies that make it easier for them to work, as well as opening their information to their client base without having to go to an office.
We are a IT Developer that targets CBOs that are unable to set aside their own funding for development of an application. We have experience in web-based applications, and specifically database access. We use SaaS to implement reporting through Microsoft Access, and Crystal Reports.
